| Tiivistelmä: | There is little conceptual explanations for how metaphor creates and/or reorders knowledge within organization theory, and little focus on the context of interpreting a metaphor. This article argues that contextual variation exists in the interpretation of metaphors (such as organizational identity) in organization theory. The key reasoning is that the abstract imaginative structures that are triggered by the metaphorical comparison of concepts may vary among individuals. The article introduces a case study of the 'organizational identity' metaphor to show that a metaphor can be spread to different research communities, comprehended in various ways, and used in different frameworks. |
