| Tiivistelmä: | It is often assumed that small firms operating in competitive conditions follow the dictates of the market. Research shows that they are embedded in networks and thus shaped by social institutions. However, it does not show how different types of firm are embedded in different ways. Thus, a formal framework is developed, setting out the external context and internal resources shaping small firms' behaviour. Empirical examples are used to illustrate the study's framework. |
