| Tiivistelmä: | This study builds on extant theory on embeddedness by focusing on the process of preservation and dissolution (here as: p-and-d.) of the target firm's embedded ties (as: emb-ts.) that is: trust, joint problem-solving, conflict resolution and exchange of fine-grained information, in acquisitions. Four critical areas are identified: communication, idiosyncratic investments, interpersonal relations and personnel turnover. The p-and-d. of emb-ts. depend ultimately on 2 specific tie contingencies: i. the balance of power btw. the target firm and ii. the embedded relation and interpretive processes at the interface btw. the two. The study's findings have implications for the study of the dissolution of market ties etc. |
