| Tiivistelmä: | This paper studies the quantitative impact of certain ecosystem changes on the productivity of the fisheries of the Gulf of Paria, Trinidad by using vector autoregression VAR analysis. To investigate the extent of factors affecting the production in the studied fisheries and to evaluate the management implications of these fisheries four VAR models were constructed. The results suggest that sustainable management of fishery resources can be achieved if the management practices based on multi-species, ecosystem approaches replace the traditional, single-species management techniques. |
