Tiivistelmä: | This article provides an overview of the relative roles of public and private pension provisions in OECD countries. A survey of selected aspects of the relationship between private and public pension provision conducted in the European OECD countries is presented. The results are compared with the other regions of the OECD. There are great differences in the pension systems of OECD countries. However, it seems that the role of private pensions has expanded significantly in recent years. In the future, it is estimated that the private pensions play even more important role. Traditionally, tax incentives are used to encourage voluntary private pension savings. However, mandatory private pensions are the only way to cover more than 50 per cent of working-age people. |
