| Tiivistelmä: | This paper focuses on two assistant roles in the public services, the teaching assistant and social work assistant. Both roles are regarded as increasingly important in the New Labour's modernization project. The study presents eight case studies as a data source. The contribution of those roles to the public service reform program is assessed. The results suggest that roles have some common features. In spite of that, key differences between the roles of teaching assistant and social work assistant are apparent. For example, social care work process is much looser and more extended than the role of teaching assistant. |
