Tiivistelmä:The aim of this study is to analyze the link between company size and performance in the introduction of new products and processes. Drawing from relevant literature, the authors propose two models to be tested in order to explore the different business strategies and innovation inputs connected to product and process innovations. Based on innovation survey data (CIS 2) at the industry level for 22 manufacturing sectors in Europe, the analysis support previous studies showing that product and process innovations are related to distinct innovative inputs and strategies. The work also demonstrates that the behaviour of large firms differs systematically that from SMEs.
