Tiivistelmä:Employing difference-in-difference estimators the effect of the introduction of the UK minimum wage on the working hours of low-wage workers is estimated. Based on the employer-based New Earnings Survey the findings suggest that the basic hours were reduced by one or two hours when minimum wage was introduced. The impacts on total paid hours are similar, and within this, the lagged effects are stronger than the initial effects. Using the employee-based Labour Force Surveys the estimates were less significant.
