| Tiivistelmä: | This article estimates different privatization methods and their effects on growth in transition economies. The analysis draws mainly upon a cross-country panel growth model for the period 1990-2003. The paper documents that neither private sector development nor capital market development exercised a significant influence on growth. The findings indicate that voucher privatization is significantly associated with faster growth. The authors believe that the effectiveness of this privatization model might be grounded on the speed with which links between firms and the state are severed. |
