Tiivistelmä: | High-structured interviews have been proved to be a reliable tool for employers to identify potentially talented employees, but less reliable low-structured interviews are still more common. Using a sample of 292 interviewers from 33 Taiwanese companies, this paper studies the joint impact of interviewer-related factors and situational factors on the way an interviewer reacts to high-structured interviews. The results of the study indicate that the interviewer's cognitive style is related his or her attitude towards high-structured interviews. The study also revealed that analytically orientated interviewers interviewing potential employees for more complex jobs have a more positive stand on high-structured interviews. A close link between an organization's interview norms and the interviewer's needs for power was also identified. |
