| Tiivistelmä: | There has been debate in the field of strategic human resource management on whether the encouraging of external and internal labour flexibility leads to a complementary or a substitute effect on firm performance. Based on a sample of 1,403 Spanish industrial firms, this paper studies the ways in which the degree of internal labour flexibility moderates the relationship between internal labour flexibility and firm performance. The findings of the study suggest a substitute effect between external and internal labour flexibility. |
