Tiivistelmä:This article aims to investigate how individual characteristics and contextual factors affect managers' willingness to welcome significant internal job changes at later stages of their careers. The study is based on data collected in a two-way longitudinal survey of 584 managerial employees of various French organizations. The relationships of interest were tested by running three hierarchical regression equations. It was found that job attitudinal variables explain a significant proportion of the managers' willingness to change disciplin. Spouse's unwillingness to move as well as off-the-job entrenchment were found to have a strong negative impact on the likelihood of relocation, but openness to new experiences was found to be a major determinant of all types of job-related mobility. The findings of the study indicate that managers in their late careers could in fact have a substantially more dynamic role in their organizations.
