Tiivistelmä: | This article examines the relations between high involvement management and organizational performance, and three perspectives are identified: high involvement management as complementary best practices, as synergic practices and as an orientation or philosophy. A study aimed at testing all three perspectives is introduced. The findings of the analysis of a large sample of British organizations indicate that practices are often not related to performance and don't have important synergistic relationships. It was found that high involvement orientation is linked to both labour productivity measures, but the link between high involvement orientation and the level of productivity was found to be more or less dependent of total quality management. The total quality management orientation, however, was found to have a strong independent link with productivity change. |
