Tiivistelmä:This article deals with the issue of employee recognition, which in the current social and organizational context has become a major issue for organizations. The paper analyses this social and organizational context and investigates the employees' need for recognition. Four conceptual approaches for employee recognition are assessed: the ethical perspective, the humanistic and existential view, the work psychodynamics school and the behavioural outlook. A need for further study of the main conditions and dynamics of functional employee recognition strategies is identified.
