| Tiivistelmä: | This paper aims at measuring financial sector (hereafter as: f-s.) outreach (as: o-r.) and exploring its determinants (here as: detms). New indicators of banking sector o-r. are presented across 99 countries, constructed from aggregate data provided by bank regulators. It is shown that this study's indicators closely predict harder-to-collect micro level statistics of household and firm use of banking services, being associated with measures of firm financing obstacles. Finally, the association btw. the o-r. indicators and standard detms. of f-s. depth is explored. There are many similarities and also some differences found in the detms. of o-r. and depth. |
