| Tiivistelmä: | Universities are important generators of knowledge but it is not entirely trouble-free. It may cause conflicts between commercialization and the traditional missions of universities. The purpose of this paper is to compare the levels of patenting activity, success and quality at universities located in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The findings reveal significant differences between the regions. Scottish institutions succeed in the comparison. According to the authors Wales and Northern Ireland should take model from Scottish cross-university collaboration to improve their patent performance. |
