Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of this article is to examine the ways in which class, race and gender affect the work-family management of women low-wage service workers and assistant professors in the USA. Based on in-depth interviews, the differences and similarities in the experiences of these two groups of women workers are studied. The findings of the analysis indicate that class aggravates the gendered experiences of women low-wage service workers, whereas for women assistant professors, class mutes gendered experiences. The importance of exploring the processes of intersectionality when examining women's experiences in families and workplaces is highlighted. |
