Tiivistelmä:The study investigates the major challenges we face in consumer and tourist experience research. The study was made by exploring the current literature in the field. By means of the current literature, the existing research is categorized into six mainstreams of theoretical thinking and empirical research. These streams constitute a defined set of research challenges. The streams were identified as the fundamentals of the experience, experience-seeking behaviours, and methodologies used in experience research, the nature of specific tourism experiences, managerial issues in the design and delivery of experiences, and the evolutionary trail of experience thinking.
