| Tiivistelmä: | This study aims at examining the evolution of payment behaviours by emphasizing the role of the regulation and the financial opening. It is tested whether the convergence (here as: cnvg.) process of payment technologies and regulations is propagated from upstream to downstream through the channel of standardized products, leading to the cnvg. of the demand for payment services. Relating to the use of five payment instruments, a test of conditional beta-convergence is performed on a panel of European countries. Generally, results show evidence for cnvg. for all means of payment. |
