Tiivistelmä: | This paper focuses on the management of external knowledge (hereafter as: knwl.) as a central mechanism with organizations facing threats from turbulent environments (here as: t-env/s). Based on absorptive capacity (ACAP) theory, emphasized is ACAP's separation into potential and realized (here as: p-and-r.) knwl., suggesting that each should be associated with 3-dimensional stocks and distinguished btw. managing knwl. stocks and knwl. flows. The model is supported by data from 522 managers from 12 Israli hospitals. In t-env/s., organizations managing both p-and-r. ACAP stocks achieve better performance. The practical and theoretical contributions of the new suggested framework are explored by linking ACAP stocks, environmental competitiveness, and performance. |
