Tiivistelmä:Interest-based bargaining (IBB) is examined as to past usage, current preferences, and future intentions for using the approach in U.S. airline and railroad labour negotiations (hereafter as: l-negts). Based on a survey of 84 union and management chief negotiators (here as: c-negts.), personal attributes of the c-negts. were found to be strong predictors of the past use of IBB. However, personal affinities and styles became irrelevant as experience with IBB accumulation. Among others, the study also uncovered the unpopularity of IBB among l-negts. relative to their management counterparts.
