Tiivistelmä:This study focuses on a 15-county region in the U.S. Arkansas Delta Byways (ADB) mainly dependent on agriculture. There are two stages i. a stage involving statistical predictions of future agritourism (hereafter as: a-t.) visitors based on time series extrapolation models, and ii. an input–output (I-O) framework to estimate the economic impacts (here as: ec-i:s.) relating to employment, sales, income and tax revenue to federal, state and local governments. A-t. expenditure and visitor data are used to estimate the baseline ec-i:s. in 2007 and to predict potential ec-i:s. in 2012 on the region's economy. Examined are three alternate scenarios, where the a-t. visitors as a percentage of total visitors increases from the baseline level to hypothetical higher levels as a result of the state's a-t. promotion and initiatives, and estimated are the net economic gain from additional visitors. Based on findings, farms are suggested to be going to benefit from increases in income but not to see any significant increase in jobs mainly due to the family nature of the firms. Economic benefits from on-farm hunting far overtake other a-t. activities and their impacts have effect on many other sectors of the local economy.
