Tiivistelmä:This study extends Walker Information's ("Business Ethics: Ethical Decision Making and Cases", Chapter 10, p. 235–255, 1999, in 'Employee Relationship Report Benchmark' by O.C. Ferrell, J. Fraedrich and L. Ferrell, publ. Houghton Mifflin, Boston) study on employees' job attitudes performed exclusively in the United States (U.S.). The sample in this study includes more than 700 students from seven countries: Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Ireland, South Africa, and the U.S. It is indicated that both social desirability response bias and gender were significant. However, when analysing the data by country, it is suggested that the generally accepted premise of women being more ethically conscious than men was only true for the samples from the U.S. and Canada. Moreover, it is also indicated that, while social desirability response bias was significant for the four factors suggesting ethical components for the sample from the U.S., this finding was not universal.
