| Tiivistelmä: | It is suggested that property regimes determine destination structures. The paper compares two destination models based on a different allocation of property rights. Proposed is a third model based on an different institutional regime, intellectual property, which claims that it could be considered superiour to the previous two models. In Creative Tourism Districts participation is favoured in tourism development and at the same time competition among a heterogeneous network of producers is prevented from becoming destructive of place and product. Though the various points being illustrated by means of real-world examples, this is a merely conceptual paper conducting a research track on property rights and tourism development. |
