Tiivistelmä:Salt is necessity and it has a straight connection to individuals welfare. Sweden is one of the countries that have been dependent on salt imports. This study reviews the economic and political effects of the sea blockade on Swedish salt market during the Great Northern War 1700-1721. The author also considers the role of The Swedish Navigation Act, which was legislated to enhance mercantilism, from the perspective of this essential good availability and trade.
