| Tiivistelmä: | This paper aims to present three detailed and successful mechanisms through which top management contributes to the guidance of communities of practice (CoPs). Based on data gathered through a qualitative questionnaire and followed by in-depth interviews with leaders of CoPs, conducted is an investigation of 47 CoPs in several organizations. Three mechanisms used by sponsors to successfully guide CoPs are explored. The findings highlight a set of operational means used by top management, through sponsors, to supervise and ease best practice development and sharing within CoPs. |
