Tiivistelmä: | Creating new start-up companies is often thought by policy makers (henceforth as: p-mks.) to transform depressed economic regions, to generate innovation, and to create jobs. Yet, this belief is flawed. Getting economic growth and jobs creation from entrepreneurs is not a numbers game. It is about encouraging the formation of high quality and high growth companies. Thus, p-mks. should stop subsidizing the formation of typical start-ups and focus on creating conditions for businesses with growth potential. By eliminating incentives to create low probability companies, p-mks. can improve the new businesses' average performance. |
