Tiivistelmä:This study examines whether linkages btw. well-being (henceforth as: w-b.) and paid work (as: p-w.) and housework (as: h-w.), respectively, differ btw. European family policy models. It is also explored if any such differences can be attributed to differences in the experience of work-family (as: w-f.) conflict. Based on data on mothers and fathers in 18 European countries, it is found among others that the traditional family policy model shows the most positive association btw. womens' w-b. and p-w. hours, although this association is hidden through w-f. conflict. It is possible that the selection into long p-w. hours of women with rewarding jobs is greater here than elsewhere. Women's h-w. hours are also most positively related with w-b. in the traditional model.
