| Tiivistelmä: | Economists and sociologists explain the double nature of markets being stable and open at the same time by factors of stability and uncertainty. Using a sequential analysis, this paper adopts a management science perspective, focusing on strategic actions and reactions. Based on a case study of the United States (U.S.) defense industry, it is shown that a distinction has to be made btw. change strategies ("stabilizing" and "destabilizing" ones) and strategies (hereafter as: strs.) aiming at managing the risk created by these change strs. ("maintaining the stability" and "maintaining the openness" strs.). In order to understand market processes, it is also shown that it is important to consider the strs. developed by three kinds of players: the customers, the suppliers and the regulators. |
