Tiivistelmä:As classical micro-political studies have shown, management behaviour is (also) shaped by individual interests and actor rationales. Based on the assumption of actors being neither the organs of given structures nor acting fully autonomously, this paper underlines how key foreign subsidiary (hereafter as: subs.) managers interpret and integrate individual, socio-political, organizational and some home & host country factors into subs. initiatives (here as: inits.), which are attempted to be achieved in negotiations with the headquarters. Empirically, this paper is based on three explorative case studies performed at German-owned subsidiaries in France, including all main forms of subs. inits., that is local, global and MNC internal subsidiary inits.
