Tiivistelmä:In this article, a comparative study of media texts in Sweden and Finland is presented. Focusing on the controversial question of introducing gender-based quotas on the boards of companies, it is analysed how representations of gender and management are affected by contemporary market discourse (hereafter as: m-d.) in these countries. It is argued that m-d. takes different forms in the two societal contexts and that the space for questioning and criticizing it from a gender equality perspective remains different. Thus, this analysis adds on recent contributions highlighting that both societal particularities and transnational processes should be taken into account in the gender and management studies.
