Tiivistelmä:This article deals with three mostly unsolved problems in theory and research on political (henceforth as: pol.) protest: 1. feedback effects of protest on its determinants, 2. determinants' possible influence on each other (or not), 3. explaining different effects of individual-level variables by changes of the pol. context. This study's hypotheses are tested with a four-wave panel survey, performed in Leipzig, Germany, from 1990 to 1998. Propositions about differential effects of the variables across waves are suggested. Among others, it is found that people having been taking part in protest activities under communist rule in 1989, use to express a long-term decrease of pol. discontent. To the end, it is found that integration in protest-promoting networks is the most important protest determinant.
