Tiivistelmä: | The economic performance of Poland has been generally good during the post-communist era. Yet, for many years its growth was jobless with very high unemployment rates, making little progress towards the targets set for European Union (EU) Member States and EU accession countries. In 2003, Poland's labour markets unexpectedly began to show new dynamism, with employment growing strongly and unemployment falling down. The improvement was overlapping with a liberalization of the Labour Code. Unfortunately, the presented measures for increasing flexibility are in contradiction with the EU's Fixed-term Work Directive, and probably there are modifications needed. |
