Tiivistelmä:This study provides a theoretical foundation for exploring the influence of food advertising, social norms, and linked mediating influences on emotional (henceforth as: emt-) eating. Based on interviews with emt-eaters and an emt-eating conceptual model, it is shown that emt-eating is heavily influenced by food advertising. It is suggested that individuals eating emotionally may be doing so because such behaviour has been learned. Allthough there are policy and regulatory efforts to create more informed consumers by providing nutrient content information on labels and packaging, emt-eaters have little motivation for processing this information.
