Tiivistelmä: | This paper aims to deal with how the right level of engagement and effective communication can get achieved. Based on a specific case study, the introduction of hydrogen refuelling in London, it ethnographically observes the social construction of reality occurring via the interactions in the case. Noted are the forms of constructive and non-constructive communication. It is observed how institutional "body-language" has a key role in the way interactions are perceived. Symbolic association with wider social concerns seem to distinguish whether people take a strong position, or just let matters take their course. A refinement of the Social amplication of Risk framework is suggested. The analysis suggests how to manage this aspect of community relations, proposing a communication strategy focusing on development of a sense of trust and social cohesion. |
