Tiivistelmä: | The paper investigates which institutional conditions help explain men's and women's time use. The study is based on data from the Multinational Time Use Archive. The study have data from 17 European countries for the 1965-1998 period. The results reveal that in countries with highly developed economics and in countries with high rates of child-care services, men and women do more paid work. In addition, it is found that highly educated and married women do less paid work and more housework in masculine cultures than their counterparts in more feminine cultures. |
