| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines the live event approach to poverty in relation to the social stratification perspective. The study is based on a data from the European Community Household Panel Survey. The results show that transitions in a person's life course, as childbirth, job loss and partnership dissolution do have major effect on the chance of poverty entry. |
