| Tiivistelmä: | This paper explores the link between firm performance (henceforth as: f-perf.) and both board size (herein as: b-sz.) and board composition (as: b-cmp.) for companies quoted on the Irish stock market. The impact of firm size on the relationship btw. f-perf. and the board characteristics is explored, as well. There is evidence that: i. b-sz. exhibits a significant negative association with f-perf., ii. the relationship btw. b-sz. and f-perf. is significantly less negative for smaller firms, and iii. a positive and significant link btw. f-perf. and the percentage of non-executives on the board is apparent. |
