| Tiivistelmä: | Focusing on relational and contractual mechanisms (herein as: mechs.), this paper examines the impact of these mechs. on foreign subsidiaries' (hereafter as: f-sub/s.) acquisition (as: acqsn.) of explicit and tacit knowledge (herein as: knwl.) from local suppliers. Based on survey data from nearly 170 f-sub/s. operating in China, there is found broad support for the proposed analytical framework. With shared common goals, the f-sub/s. acquires greater levels of both explicit and tacit knwl. (than the supplier/s). Trust btw. the two parties promotes the acqsn. of broader levels of tacit than explicit knwl. There are also more results reported in detail. |
