Tiivistelmä:This study's focus is on the differences in the perception of business ethics across two groups of management students from France and Romania (n=220). Data was gathered through the Attitudes Towards Business Ethics Questionnaire (ATBEQ) to measure preferences for three business philosophies: Machiavellianism (herein as: M.), Social Darwinism (as: S.D.), and Moral Objectivism (as: M.O).
It is shown that Romanian students present more favourable attitudes toward M. than French students, while French students valued S.D. and M.O. more highly. For M. and M.O., the results are consistent with the literature and the study's hypotheses. However, contrary to the expectations, it is found that S.D. is more important in France than Romania. The results indicate that religious practice does not influence preferences for the three business philosophies. In terms of gender differences, women have less favourable attitudes toward M. and more favourable attitudes toward M.O. than men.
