| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of the article is to understand what influences individual participation in different kinds of formal organizations and how such explanations differ across European countries. The study relies on cross-national survey data from the European Social Survey. The results reveal that European Union (EU) countries can be separated at least three different groups and how participatory habits are different among these groups. Noticeable differences appear between the countries in Northern group and the Mediterranean and Eastern cluster. |
