Tiivistelmä:Drawing on case studies, this paper investigates the establishment, modes of operation and participation result of non-statutory firm level employee representation (NSR) in German private sector companies. Four types of NSRs are presented, and a theoretical account is created, which highlights cultural-institutional arguments and actors strategies. It is claimed that while NSRs seem to be instruments of management trying to effectively organise company interest regulation, they strongly reflect cultural conditions and ideologies of non-statutory employee representation.
