| Tiivistelmä: | The aim of this article is to analyse the knowledge dimensions grounding regional development dynamics. First, a knowledge-based interpretation is provided of regional development and afterwards, the knowledge assets categories at the basis of value creation dynamics at regional level are studied. The purpose is to define a conceptual framework addressing the knowledge assets categories, which affect the development dynamics of regions and territories. The article provides the case example of Basilicata region, where policies aiming to activate and support regional strategic development concentrating on knowledge assets dimensions are implemented. The knowledge assets dimensions grounding regional development dynamics are identified with the help of prior literature. Then, the conceptual framework is integrated by the analysis of a case study aimed to enhance the proposed conceptual arguments with empirical evidences. The strategic relevance of knowledge capital in sustaining and driving regional development dynamics is highlighted. |
