| Tiivistelmä: | The article covers brownfield acquisition as a growth strategy to allow access to resources that are embedded in existing firms. The concept of brownfield acquisition is reviewed, and its empirical relevance is established outside of transition economies. Also, its theoretical antecedents and its implications are explored for theorizing in international businesses. The study indicates brownfield acquisitions to be more applicable for projects that are well integrated with the parent's global functions, and in the case of weak local firms and strong institutions. |
