Tiivistelmä:This article examines the individual-level personality-based theory of self-management failure. The model is tested using data gathered from 286 employees and structural equations analysis. It was found that high neuroticism is connected with inappropriate personal goal setting, monitoring, and operating; and emotional self-absorption and procrastination explain the relationship between high neuroticism and ineffective self-management. Furthermore, low conscientiousness is connected with poorer self-management practices, and inability to postpone gratification and procrastination partly explain the relationship between low conscientiousness and bad self-management.
