Tiivistelmä: | This article discusses policy and management implications of tourism as mixed industry where public, non-profit and private organizations collaborate in creating the tourism product. The study compares four sample festivals from the UK, Australia, Norway and Sweden in terms of ownership, governance, structure and content. The findings show that festivals differed relative to revenue sources, cost structure, use of volunteers, corporate sponsorship and decision-making. The differences are significant to destinations that consider festival as attractions and use them in place marketing. |
