Tiivistelmä:This article extends research on the downsides of developing trust to partners in interorganizational relationships. First, it is theorized on the micro-processes of how and why rigidities emerge already at low levels of trust and accumulate in parallel to the positive trust effects as trust strengthens over time. Second, it is suggested that the trust dysfunctions can be separated and moderated individually from trust benefits. The moderating potential of a set of handling tactics is identified when trust creates rigidities in the relationship.
