| Tiivistelmä: | Ba in this context is the physical, mental or virtual place where knowledge is created. In this article, ba is studied in international humanist, technical and scientific research groups. Empirical data is gathered through interviews and discourse analysis of three international research groups from the University of Oulu. This article discusses the theory of ba in relation to the discourse and exploratory case study in order to gain further understanding of it. The formation of ba depends on the structural factors and the type of knowledge of the case groups. Humanist knowledge has a larger focus on language and social bonds, as it has abstract concepts and philosophical discussions, unlike in scientific and technical groups that focus on accuracy. |
