| Tiivistelmä: | This paper aims at introducing and illustrating the importance of revealing tacit perceptions during knowledge management (KM) audit, in order to identify cultural barriers possibly interfering with KM initiatives. The research was performed during a KM audit in a large international software development organization. The methodology was composed of two disciplines: 1. for data gathering, a knowledge-engineering and management methodology, the CommonKADS, was used. 2. for qualitative data analysis, the grounded theory approach was used. It was found that the current KM activities in the organization include creation, sharing, access, usage, and maintenance. In interviews and discussions, the most highlighted activity was access. The identified cultural barriers relate to the KM roles and responsibilities in the daily work. A business process analysis uncovered different perspectives of KM from different stakeholders. |
