Tiivistelmä:While researchers have studied the connection between customer orientation, entrepreneurship and innovativeness with business performance in various organizations, little is studied about the hotel industry. This paper examines the potential impacts of those variables on hotel industry performance. Data was collected through personal questionnaires from 156 hotel managers and owners from Switzerland's German and French speaking cantons to investigate the interrelation between innovativeness, customer orientation, entrepreneurship and service business performance dimensions (i.e., achievements of profit goal, sales goal and ROI). The results support aspects of prior research, also providing some new insights by simultaneously exploring customer orientation and innovativeness and revealing these factors' effects on the performance of the Swiss hotel industry. In the light of prior research, limitations and coming research directions are also addressed.
